The Do’s & Don’ts of Spring Break Packing
Spring Break is almost here, and the last thing you want is to be that person who forgets something important—or worse, overpacks and has to haul around a suitcase that weighs more than you do. To make sure you’re prepped and ready for your GradCity trip, here’s the ultimate list of packing do’s and don’ts!
✅ DO: Pack Light & Smart
Stick to the essentials. You’ll be living in swimsuits, cover-ups, and comfy outfits, so there’s no need to bring your entire wardrobe. Pack versatile pieces that you can mix and match, and don’t forget a light jacket for cooler nights plus your themed night fits!
❌ DON’T: Overpack
Trust us, you won’t wear half the things you think you will. Stick to the basics, and leave extra space in your bag just in case you decide to bring home some souvenirs. Plus, overpacking makes it harder to keep your stuff organized—no one wants to dig through a mountain of clothes just to find their sunglasses.
✅ DO: Bring Travel-Size Toiletries
Save space by packing mini versions of your essentials. Only bring what you absolutely need, like sunscreen—lots of it, small bottles of shampoo + conditioner, makeup remover, toothpaste, etc. Make sure to check for airline requirements.
❌ DON’T: Forget the Essentials
While it’s easy to assume you can buy things at your destination, it’s best to come prepared. Must-haves include:
- Valid Passport (triple-check this!)
- Phone charger & portable battery
- Sunscreen (reef-safe, if possible!)
- Swimwear (at least two, so one can dry while you wear the other!)
- Theme night fits
✅ DO: Pack a First-Aid & Emergency Kit
You never know when you’ll need a band-aid, Advil, or some aloe vera for that sunburn. Having a small kit with these essentials can be a lifesaver.
❌ DON’T: Bring Too Many Shoes
You really only need three pairs:
- Flip-flops for the pool/beach
- Sneakers for excursions or walking around
- A casual pair for nights out
✅ DO: Bring a Reusable Water Bottle
Staying hydrated is key, especially in the sun. A refillable bottle will keep you feeling good all trip long.
❌ DON’T: Pack Prohibited Items
GradCity trips have rules, and so do airlines. Avoid packing anything that could get confiscated, and always check your airline’s restrictions before heading to the airport.
